We love a kitschy, well-appointed indie bookstore. BookPeople, just west of downtown, is the biggest in the state – no small feat in a state as huge as Texas. Snag a coffee at their cafe and peruse their shelves until you find your next page-turner.
go with the (water) flow
Austin feeling too steamy for you? Do as the locals and cool your heels at Barton Springs. The pool is pure, crystal clear refreshment, with a trail that has great city views. Just don’t leave your sandals behind – the rocks here can be slick.
